New Balance Games: Live Updates, Results, Video and More

The 2014 New Balance Games continue today, Saturday, January 25, at The New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory. With varsity and invitational high school competition, as well as a selection of professional events, a full slate of action is scheduled.

 

Saturday HIGHLIGHTS 

-- New Rochelle just ran a blazing 4x200m Girls Relay time of 1:39.39, the fastest high school time in the nation this year.

-- The men's 600m came down to the wire, with Duane Solomon narrowly edging Erik Sowinski, 1:16.67 to 1:16.78!

-- Olympian Kim Conley breaks The Armory's record for the Women's Mile, timing 4:24.54! 

-- A new US#1 for New Rochelle's Symone Darius in the 300m! She timed a blistering 38.07 seconds.

-- Stephanie Garcia wins the Women's Mile Steeplechase, running from wire to wire in front. Her final time was 4:48.97.

-- Lee Emanuel sets a new meet record in the Men's Invitational mile, timing 3:54.3! He edged Garrett Heath down the homestretch. 

-- A new Armory Record in the Triple Jump! Olympic medalist Will Claye leaped 55 feet, 11 inches (17-04 meters), bettering the previous record of 55-09.75 feet. 

-- Ajee' Wilson cruised to the Women's Invitational 600m win in 1:28.27. The 19-year-old New Jersey native split 400 meters in 55.5 seconds before extending her lead in the final lap.

-- Louis Colson is your Boys Invitational Mile champion in 4:18.49! He's earned a spot at the NYRR Millrose Games on Feb. 15.

-- Manteo Mitchell won the Men's 300m in 32.71, while Shaunae Miller timed 36.40 for the Women's win. Kadecia Baird placed second.

-- In the Girls Long Jump, Keturah Orji of Mount Olive (NJ) had a best of 20 feet, 8 inches in Section 7 of the Prelims, qualifying her for the final. That's a new US#1 and about three inches shy of her personal best.

-- Maria Gorecki of Somers won the first invitational event of the day, the Girls 1500m Race Walk, in 7:22.8.

-- Early winners from Saturday include Fordham Prep (NY) and Washington Township (NJ) in the Boys and Girls Shuttle Hurdle Relays, timing 32.10 and 33.57 seconds, respectively. Elizabeth Chikotas of Saucon Valley (PA) was the Girls 2 mile winner in 11:01.12, while Kyle Gronostaj of Columbia (NY) clocked 9:22.13 for the Boys title.
