Alberto Salazar can hardly contain his enthusiasm as he enters his second year training distance runner Alan Webb.

Webb, the American mile record-holder who was slowed by injuries in 2008 and ‘09, enjoyed “a great comeback year” in 2010, Salazar says. Webb, who turns 28 on Jan. 13, ran 1:47 in the 800 and 3:36 in the 1,500 last summer, finished fourth in the Fifth Avenue mile road race in 3:53 in September and beat Galen Rupp in a 5-kilometer road race in San Jose on Thanksgiving Day.

This will be the 10th anniversary of his US High School record indoor mile which was also the first and only sub-4 HS indoor mile.
